Welcome to Xi’an Food Bar – Northcote North Shore

Heard of Xi'an Food? Dumplings and hand-pulled noodles?

You have probably heard of dumplings and hand-pulled noodles, but do you know about the Rou Jia Mo (Chinese burger) and Yang Rou Pao Mo (Pita Bread soaked in Lamb Soup)? Xi’an Food Bar was established in Auckland in 2003 for the purpose of introducing these delicious traditional Xi’an cuisine to New Zealand.

Xi’an is a city located in north central China. With an incredibly culture-rich history of over 5000 years, its historical sites caused it to become one of China’s most popular tourist destinations, including the world renowned Terracotta army, where over a million tourists from around the world visit every year.

The founder of Xi’an Food Bar moved from Xi’an to Auckland in the early 1990’s. Unable to eat his favourite food from back home for several years, he decided to open a restaurant in Auckland, relieving him, his family and many others like him of having a way to have a taste of their hometown at any time, and more importantly, he was able to introduce the delicious Xi’an cuisine to Auckland.

It has now been over nearly 20 years since the opening of the first store, starting from just a small store in New Lynn. We can now proudly promote our seven branches in Auckland and also a branch in Hamilton. We boast our consistent standard of all products across these 8 branches, with the quality directly overseen and kept to high standards by the same people that created the very first menu of the store from 2003.

We have recently been recommended by Metro as one of the top 10 best cheap eats in Auckland, and for many years they have praised us for our noodles and burgers. We hope to continue to improve, aiming to bring Xi’an food to even more customers across New Zealand.
